Who Will Newcastle United Sign in the Next 6 Months? Part 2

Newcastle’s financial takeover has generated plenty of transfer rumours, but which actually stand a chance of materialising?

Here’s a look at another four candidates to be joining Newcastle by the end of January 2021.

Alfredo Morelos – 11/2

One of Newcastle’s top priorities will surely be a new striker. Joelinton has struggled in his maiden Premier League season and may well be moved on when the money comes in.

Morelos has been firing for Rangers for a few seasons and has shown that he has the quality to deliver in Europe. Newcastle will have ambitions of competing in continental competitions in the not-too-distant future and it is surely time Morelos makes the step up. At 11/2, this one might have legs.

Verdict – Good value

Timo Werner – 9/1

The German forward has been linked with pretty much every major club in Europe. Newcastle were way down the pecking order as it was, but recent events can put an end to this rumour.

A move to Chelsea is all but confirmed with several reputable sources reporting the deal. The only chance this bet comes off is with a January move from Chelsea – and that is absolutely not happening.

Verdict – Avoid at all costs

Jadon Sancho – 33/1

Another Bundesliga player set to move for big money this summer is Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho. Like Werner, every man and his dog has been linked with securing the teenager’s signature.

Manchester United are the current favourites to land the England international at odds as short at 8/15. Bookmakers also have Chelsea, Liverpool and Barcelona ahead of Newcastle, with no fewer than seven other clubs matching their odds. It would be a huge surprise to see Newcastle win this particular race.

Verdict – Avoid

Neymar/Kylian Mbappe – 50/1

If you asked a Newcastle fan for their dream signing, it would likely be one of these two. Sadly for those fans, they will remain just that – dream signings.

Newcastle may go on to establish themselves as a top European club like Manchester City have done, but that will take some time. There is no chance they sign either Neymar or Mbappe in the next six months, so don’t let the 50/1 odds tempt you.

Verdict – Save your money
